Company Profile...

COMPANY FORMATION

The company started from humble beginnings in 1969 when Mr José de Castro started manufacturing panels and switchboards for South Wales Electrical as a sub-contractor.

In 1974 the company Jocastro was formed when the owner, Mr José de Castro, started manu-facturing panels, switch-boards and junction boxes for Eskom, the electrical utility in South Africa.

Rotary switches were supplied to all the other manufacturers of panels in the country as well. The switch technology and initial infrastructure was purchased “voetstoots” from Germany.

Rotary Switches was expanded in 2000 and the name changed to Lucy Rotary Switches. The product line of the new company was expanded to include 11kV ring main units.

Jocastro Switch-boards cc, a black empowerment wing of Jocastro (Pty) Ltd was formed in 1995 to comply with Eskom’s BEE policies.
